This is something so many people face. Our parents will never stop viewing themselves as our caregivers, even when they need care themselves. They “shield” us by hiding their illnesses until it’s too late.
‘Who do you intend to be?’ is such a powerful question, one that has generated very different answers at different points in my life. And isn’t that great?? The answers to life’s big questions are supposed to change and evolve as we grow older.
One of the things I’m noticing & valuing as I enter my 40s is the inspiration I find in seeing examples of women who have navigated the unexpected with grace & ingenuity. It makes me feel incredibly optimistic about living my ‘second act’ on my own terms.
