Linda Yellen’s a director, writer and producer best known for her work in television and independent film. She created her first film, a 10-minute short entitled Prospera, during her sophomore year at Barnard, winning third prize in the New York Film Festival right behind films by Martin Scorcese and George Lucas. Linda’s been going strong ever since, becoming one of the most successful women producers in the television industry.
Over the course of her career so far, Linda has produced twenty-six films for both large and small screens including two of television’s highest-rated movies, Playing for Time, which starred Vanessa Redgrave, and The Royal Romance of Charles and Diana. Linda also directed 12 films including Northern Lights, The Simian Line and William & Catherine: A Royal Romance. Her films have been released through Columbia Pictures, Disney, Universal, Showtime, CBS, NBC and ABC.
Linda’s projects have won numerous awards, including two Peabodys, seven Emmys, one Luminas, one Silver Nymph and two Christophers. They've been screened at the Cannes, Toronto, Sundance, New York, Aspen, Banff, Palm Springs, Hamptons and Deauville film festivals.
She’s worked (and become friends) with such extraordinary talent as Arthur Miller, Anthony Hopkins, Vanessa & Lynn Redgrave, Diane Keaton, Elizabeth Taylor, Liza Minnelli, Gena Rowlands and Jacqueline Bisset.
Her newest venture involves completing “The Last Film Festival,” an ironically titled movie that became Dennis Hopper’s last film. The film’s all-star cast includes Jacqueline Bisset, Chris Kattan, JoBeth Williams, Katrina Bowden, Leelee Sobieski and Donnell Rawlings.
Linda's very successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter just generated $109, 202, providing her with the funds to edit, market and distribute the film, which she directed, co-wrote and produced. Many thanks to everyone in our community who helped support Linda!
